Description

The excitement in the air is electric as the leaders round the last corner and head for the finish line. Each team has used cunning and skill to position their sprinter for this moment, but only one has done enough to pull off the win!

Will your team lead from the front and risk exhaustion? Should you play it safe in the middle of the pack? Could you surprise everyone by striking from the back? Can you time your move perfectly?

Anyone can race, few become champions!

Flamme Rouge is a fast-paced, tactical bicycle racing game where each player controls a team of two riders: a Rouleur and a Sprinteur. The players’ goal is to be the first to cross the finish line with one of their riders. Players move their riders forward by drawing and playing cards from that riders specific deck, depleting it as they go. Use slipstreams to avoid exhaustion and position your team for a well timed sprint for the win.

Etienne's Game of the Week

Flamme Rouge is more than meets the eye. It can be played with the whole family where you are focusing on playing cards and racing without thinking too much ahead. If you decide to play with more competitive players, the game opens to you with its tournament mode where each card played is a step towards victory.

Flamme Rouge puts you in the shoes of a pair of cyclists at the start of a crazy race that can hold up to 12 players (with the expansion, 4 players without the expansion). This is one of the best racing games I've had the chance to play thanks to its two-cyclist mechanism. One is bigger, stronger but slower. The other one is your sprinter. He's definitely quicker, but also gets exhausted quickly. However, if you calculate your movements well, he can escape with victory.

The game can be explained in minutes, but will take several playthrough before showing its depth. Exciting, tense, tight and simply fun: if you like Downforce, El Dorado or Automobiles, you will love Flamme Rouge and its extension, Peloton.
